China could reach 2030-renewable energy target faster than expected

Key results from upcoming China Renewable Energy Outlook 2020 show the importance of a fast development of wind and solar to achieve China’s targets of the Paris Agreement. In 2020, China added a record of 120 gigawatt wind and solar PV. A development that shows it is realistic to reach the 1,200 GW target even before the estimated target in 2030.

The Ukraine-Denmark Energy Center launches advanced database with open and transparent energy data

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine (SSSU) and the Danish Energy Agency have launched a database covering three decades of previously disconnected energy data. By documenting developments in energy supply and consumption, the database could play a crucial part in visualizing possible scenarios for reaching Ukraine’s renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy independence targets.

The technology neutral tender round for 2019 has now been determined and has resulted in a record low level of aid to onshore wind turbines and solar PV. The budget for the tender round was DKK 258 million (2019 prices) with a bid cap of 6 øre per kWh.

Denmark decides to construct the world’s first windenergy hub as an artificial island in the North Sea.

Denmark has reached a landmark agreement on the construction of an energy hub in the North Sea. The energy hub will be an artificially constructed island 80 kilometers from the shore of the peninsula Jutland. It will be owned by a public-private partnership. The hub will strengthen the integration of Europe’s power grids and increase RE production necessary for a climate neutral Europe.
