Danish-Chinese cooperation shows how China can save 7 billion tons of CO2 annually by 2050 and reach its climate targets without increasing cost of energy

A cooperation between Danish and Chinese energy authorities has demonstrated how China could save more than 7 billion tons of CO2 annually by 2050 – nearly 200 times the annual Danish CO2 emissions from energy demand - and reach its national climate targets as well as the UN below 2-degree target without increasing cost of energy.

The technology neutral tender round for 2019 has now been determined and has resulted in a record low level of aid to onshore wind turbines and solar PV. The budget for the tender round was DKK 258 million (2019 prices) with a bid cap of 6 øre per kWh.

Produced in collaboration between the Danish Energy Agency and the Vietnamese energy authority Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority, it demonstrates how Vietnam can accelerate the country's green transition and achieve emissions savings that exceed decades of Danish emission reductions.
